Come and join us to celebrate the Lunar New Year which is the Golden Dog Year in the Oriental Zodiac.
Here's some preview of the K-paper folding & crafting activities @ Boston Children's Museum next week: ******************** Since the ancient times, the Korean paper folding & crafting (i.e., Jongie jupgi in Korean) has been a significant part of Korean culture. The Ancient Koreans believed that paper serves in connecting the souls of the dead and the living and is also a medium between man and God (For example, writing one’s hope on a paper, folding it to a plane, and flying it up into the sky is an aspiration to reach God). It is commonly taught to schoolchildren as a part of the lessons on art, science, math, history, and more. This Korean paper folding & crafting is an excellent technique to improve memory and has been known as an outstanding resource in developing the children’s brain capacity and creativity, fine motor skills, mental concentration, and confidence & happiness by enjoying the work of art. The Korean paper folding & crafting event includes 1) the exhibition of K-paper folding arts, 2) the demonstration of the K-paper folding expert, and 3) children’s interactive participation in a fun and age appropriate way. Everyone will take their own art work home. ************************ For more information, visit http://www.bostonchildrensmuseum.org/calendar/paper-art-mija-yun
